Resistance is NOT futile
Paramount is going after unofficial Star Trek
websites similar to Star Trek Nexus! See WIRED magazine special report, and www.news.com special report!
Those of you who wish to join in the protest can check out these sites
Joe Reiss has launched the Resistance
is Not Futile campaign page. Here is the e-mail from him...
from: jreiss@vt.edu
Greetings friends,
I am sending this email to all of you because... well,
because I think may of you will be interested in what I
have to say. As many of you are already aware, Paramount
has recently begun a crack down on fan run Star Trek web
sites. They want all these sites to remove any Trek related
imagery, video, audio, and script excerpts or else face legal
action. This has angered many people in the Trek community
and spurred many to action.
To help focus this action, I have just finished creating
an icon and a web page that I hope might be able to serve
as a sort of central clearing house for information about
and support for the campaign to change Paramount's (alleged)
minds. I want to encourage all of you to visit the site.
If you like what you see and you agree that action needs to
be taken, then I'd encourage you to use the Locutus icon
available on the page to place a link from your web page to
the campaign page. Hopefully, by making this icon visible
on some of the most popular Trek sites, we can broaden
awareness of the issue and encourage people to make their
voices heard at the Paramount offices.
The URL is "http://hci.ise.vt.edu/~jreiss/resist/". I
welcome any feedback you may have about the content of the
page and any new information you may receive on the subject.
Here's hoping the fans can make a difference in Trek history
once again.
Joe Reiss
